Trey Kennedy, 27, started off his fame by making comedic videos on social media. He is also noticed for his singing, as well. He goes on tours around the country that include both stand up and music. I love his videos because he takes a variety of different topics and puts a dramatic and hilarious twist on them! I can relate to majority of the videos he creates, making it way more engaging and enjoyable for me to watch. His energy, acting, creativity, and enthusiasm really grasps me as a viewer. I am constantly looking forward to his new posts.
I feel like he does a great job with his social media skills. He is relevant with his posts – for example, during COVID-19, he has been making videos about quarantine which makes it relatable for just about any audience. I appreciate Trey Kennedy because he keeps things happy, positive, and fun, everyday and especially during this stressful time (as well as any other stressful times).
When dealing with social media, you can come up with many different strategies for a business. The idea with using social media being able to be successful with sales. To succeed in this aspect, there are certain things about that specific business where you must understand your audience, products, discounts, and any other important details that include their business sales. Once you know your background, the strategic game plan continues..
The company I am starting up will be Bentz’s Bookstore. It’ll be designed as a comfortable hangout place for people to come in and enjoy their time to find a book (or hopefully, books) to purchase. What strategies can I use to make sure this happens? Well, the demographics for those who use books is a wide range for age, cultural groups, race, location, and can work for either gender. With that being said, the number of ways you can reach out to consumers is an immense amount. We are continuously learning how to become more tech-savy with our devices. Because we are always using our devices, it is only obvious that I should advertise my bookstore on social media. Due to the wide age range of those who love to read, I would plan to have both Facebook for the older customers and Instagram for those who are younger. I feel that it would also be important to provide a LinkedIn page for any possible partnerships and for future employees that would be interested to reach out for a potential job.
Another good idea for an increase in customers would be to connect something that goes well with reading books. Who doesn’t love a nice relaxing coffee or other type of drink when reading? This could really help with the sales rate. We could throw in some discounts as well, such as for every book purchase, you could get half off the regular price of a drink at the coffee shop. You can be sure people are aware of what this business offers by posting upcoming discounts, new drinks, etc.
A smart way we could continue to consistently hold customers would be to host book clubs each month by offering a “book of the month” to tie it in with the club. We could also include a discount of that book purchase along with a book signing from the author. We can engage social media followers by asking them which books they would most prefer through polls or comments on Twitter, Facebook, and/or Instagram.
I could also continue to grab more members to the store by hosting a book club each week. This can be advertised through social media posts, as well. Once I see who shows up, I can collect their information such as their mailing address, email, phone number, to stay in touch with them and keep them personally involved with other sales, events, and other important information to share with them so they can easily stay in touch.

It was a great day at the career fair! There were plenty of interesting business there. The ones that caught my attention the most was Pathfinder, Better Living Counseling, and Boys Town. I also couldn’t resist passing by Jimmy Johns, considering it was lunch time.
I had a great impression over Pathfinder. It seemed like a very rewarding job. They have locations in Fremont, Lincoln, Hastings, and Grand Island. They provide many different services including Child Protective Services, Juvenile Justice, Community Response, Adult Protective Services, and Private Pay Cases. In summary, they help teach appropriate parenting skills for those who abuse and neglect their children. In addition, they support families who are in need of common sense parenting while using love and logic. They use strategies for parenting that are “scream free” and learn how to talk to children appropriately. It is also important for the parents to learn how to manage a teenager’s emotions that can be hard to control. It turns out that poverty is the #1 crisis that Fremont is going through right now. This factor may lead to why families could be going through a tough time balancing the parenting and stress of managing their financial stability.
Better Living Counseling was super interesting. However, they don’t have any internships as of right now. They are similar to Pathfinders by providing Family Support Services. Other services include Parenting Time and Visitation, Drug and Alcohol Testing, Intensive Family Preservation, Intensive Family Reunification, Foster Care and Adoption Services, Tracker Services, and Electronic Monitoring.
I have always considered Boys Town as a possible start for a career. The lady I spoke with today holds a Behavioral health Technician position, which seems like something I could have a good fit for. I currently work with child care at the YMCA, so I have a first hand idea of understanding how to properly deal with kids. I feel that working in Human Resources could be a good fit as well. There are many other different positions provided from Boys Town, starting from Assistant Family Teachers to In-Home Consultants, to Nurses, and so on.
Overall, my career fair experience was very beneficial. Now that I am a junior, it is starting to become very overwhelming. I am torn between the counseling aspect or either taking on a role in Human Resources. However, it is very comforting to stop by and check out all of the options that there are to offer in this area. 🙂
I found the audit with our client very interesting. They were excited to meet with us and sketch out ideas on how to efficiently promote their social media. The main goal they had for us was how to create a more engaging audience. In addition, they were also wanting more followers with their social media. The social media process they have right now isn’t horrible but can also use a lot of work at the same time. They currently use a Facebook and Instagram. They also have a LinkedIn but have not been active on it for quite awhile. They use Instagram, but not too often. They use Facebook the most frequently therefore getting the most interaction mainly when they do “giveaways”. However, you obviously can’t do that every time to promote the business.
It can be hard for them to promote their particular business because they aren’t allowed to take pictures in this specific area during the performances. Due to this restraint, we suggested that they could set up a photo booth outside of this area before performances. Additionally, a Snapchat filter could help too, considering that Snapchat is one of the most common apps people tend to use daily. Utilizing the “stories” that are on each social media (especially Instagram), would be a quick and easy way to grab the audience’s attention if advertised correctly.
Other social media content we brought up was polls, to continue giveaways, ask questions that would give the audience the opportunity to participate. Another goal they had was to broaden the age range of their audience. Right now it averages around 50-60’s. We brought up the idea of using Twitter more often because the younger generations utilize this app quite often. I think that would help broaden the age range if you use a variety of social media apps.
It was fun to discuss the different strategies we could do to help improve their social media overall. We have a good start on where they are at now, and what they would like to see happen in the future. I am confident that we will be able to see potential change in their social media interactions.
Social Media has continuously grown to be a big part of my life. I could not live without my phone because that is where I constantly go for Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, etc. I feel that there are many benefits with the use of social media as long as being used carefully and appropriately. You can do just about anything instantly, whether it’s looking up the news, weather, life updates, keeping in touch with friends and family, and much more. I am excited to take this class because I can learn more about the use of social media and how it can impact others in different ways. Being both a business and psychology major, I feel that this class could contribute to both of these aspects. A business could easily be successful with the help of social media (if used properly) to help promote their name and draw in more customers. When you think about it psychologically, we can determine that the way social media is ran can definitely affect people with how they interact online, respond to different posts. We can use this information to better understand which type of audience you could reach out to and who will be impacted the most through those specific posts.
These days, you need social media for just about everything and anything. I think it would also be beneficial information for my work study, since I help out with the social media posts for the Dunklau School of Business (DSOB) social media pages for Instagram and Twitter. Because social media has made such a big impact on today’s society, I feel this class is going to be very beneficial in the long run. In the future, I feel that I will be able to successfully contribute to the social media aspect with whatever job I take part in. I feel that social media impacts just about everyone in their daily lives, making it beneficial to learn more about it in which can help anyone with their jobs. In summary, even though I spend hours a day on social media, I feel that I have yet so much to learn on this topic and I am very excited to get started.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.
Why do this?
The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.
To help you get started, here are a few questions:
You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.
Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.
When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
